Crimson Tide
Poem by Eniola Abioye
Blood Everywhere
Blood Everywhere
and he won’t ever leave the scars
the scars won’t leave himwounds of a battle
he won, by choosing to losehis back, bloody ribbons
shreds of humanityand still he was wholly human
he cried out
he bled outthe hands he laid on the sick
were pierced by iron nails
feet still fragrant with tears and oil
held together by the same iron nailsstretched arms
costly breathing
a pierced side
a piercing sighthe floor at the cross
blood everywhereyou were wrapped
and entombedblood everywhere
the sun was covered
the veil was torn
the son cried out
blood was everywherea soldier worshipped
a thief repented
the murderers beat their chest
blood was everywherewe know that following
this sobering mourning
you arose with
beauty
power
and gloryspent days
walking through walls
breaking bread
causing hearts to burnyou showed those scars
you resurrected with your wounds
so that we could resurrect without oursand now
the glorious bloody train of your robe
carries the victory
carries the hope
carries the healing
carries the glorycarries the triumph
and your blood
is everywherewashing
healing
deliveringyour glorious blood
is everywhere
